How does the built-in eye mask work?
While admittedly not the most stylish travel outfit you could don, once you get over the boxier fit and slight embarrassment of popping the eye mask down in the airport, you’ll be too comfortable to give a second thought to what anyone around you may think. I’m very particular about my eye masks, preferring large contoured ones that fully block out every ray of light around you. This eye mask does a fairly good job of doing so, thanks to the thick, dark fabric and the large fit, which covers a good amount of surface area past your eyes. I also appreciate that you can tuck the eye mask back into the hood when not in use, so it looks like a regular hoodie while walking to and from the hotel.
I ordered my hoodie in black, which from personal experience, is the best eye mask color to ensure that all light is actually blocked out. It’s also available in 13 other colors, including navy, crimson, lavender, and hot pink. While I still bring an eye mask with me when I travel for nighttime, I like being able to pack it in my checked bag and not having to worry about wearing it in my bed after it accidentally touched an airplane floor.
How’s the fit?
There are a few things to note about the hoodie before purchasing. The fabric is very plush and thick, meaning it can be a bit warm depending on the temperature of the plane, and is difficult to pack down and fit into your backpack or tote if you want to take it off. It is also stiffer than other hoodies I own, holding its shape more firmly—although this may change after a few more washes. I ordered a size small, but since sizing is unisex, I found the fit to be quite longer and boxier than I am used to. It is more snug in the wrists, waistband, and neck, while being looser in the body. Because of this, I recommend sizing down if you want a slimmer look, or staying true to size if you prefer something baggier.
The final verdict:
This super-soft hoodie is a great addition to my go-to travel uniform, which I regularly wear on every plane, train, and car ride I take. I pair it with Lululemon’s Lululemon’s Dance Studio pant, but it works just as well with my favorite pair of leggings or my ultra-comfy Miramar Sofie wide-leg pants, because yes, it’s possible to wear jeans on the plane. I can quickly throw the travel hoodie on early in the morning before a flight and know I’ll be comfy and warm all day long. With a plethora of secure pockets and a high-quality, plush fabric, it’s the perfect early-morning companion to feel like you’re still cozily wrapped in your bed—even if you’re actually in an Uber on the way to the airport.
