The Seattle Seahawks have won Super Bowl LX, defeating the New England Patriots 29-13 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday.
The first three quarters of the game were largely uneventful, with both teams focusing on defense rather than making any big moves. It took until the fourth quarter for the Seahawks — who were leading, thanks to some impressive field goals — to even score a touchdown. But things managed to pick up after that, with the Patriots scoring two touchdowns to avoid a shut-out. Still, the Seahawks were able to maintain a solid lead, eventually taking the game home for their second Super Bowl win in the franchise’s history.
The Seahawks were favored by 4.5 points heading into the game, and their win caps a remarkable run under third-year coach Mike McDonald. The Seahawks were the top seed in the NFC, going 14-3 in the competitive NFC West before trouncing the division rival San Francisco 49ers and edging out the division rival Los Angeles Rams in the playoffs. They then exorcised the demons from the gut-wrenching loss to the Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX back in 2015. All in all, it couldn’t have been a more satisfying conclusion for Seahawks fans.
The Seahawks were led by quarterback Sam Darnold, a former top draft pick of the New York Jets who bounced around the league before breaking out with the Minnesota Vikings in 2025, leading them to a 14-3 record before losing to the Rams in the first round of the playoffs. The Vikings weren’t convinced Darnold was their quarterback of the future, though, declining to give him a new contract and pinning their hopes on their own top draft pick, J.J. McCarthy. Well, McCarthy didn’t impress in his first season behind center, and the Vikings only went 9-8. Darnold, meanwhile, is a Super Bowl champion.
