Yesterday was not only Wordle Wednesday, it was also Earth Day but I got confused and thought it was Middle-earth Day, so I gave you a Middle-earth Day riddle:
I have roots nobody sees, taller than trees. Up, up I go, yet I never grow. What am I?
The answer? Mountains, my precious.
Alright, Wordle time.

How To Solve Today’s Wordle
How To Play Wordle
Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer:
- Green: The letter is in the word and in the correct spot.
- Yellow: The letter is in the word, but in the wrong spot.
- Gray: The letter is not in the word at all.
Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post.

Wordle Bot Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordle score with Wordle Bot right here.
PLAID was a non-starter. Five grey boxes and 579 words remaining. SHORE slashed that down to just 14, but I still had just one yellow box. I tried something a little outside-the-box with UNMET but even that left me with two potential answers and two green boxes. I didn’t even think of BEGET, so I went with TWEET. Thank goodness, that was the answer. (It’s weird, but I actually remember tweeting on Twitter with some fondness now that it’s become an even more noxious cesspool as X).

Wordle Bot: 15 points

- You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
“Tweet” is onomatopoeic—it imitates the high-pitched chirping sound of small birds. It appears in English in the 19th century as a verb for bird sounds, likely influenced by similar echoic forms like “twit” and “twiddle,” all built around light, quick consonant sounds that mimic short, sharp noises. Its modern sense—posting a message on Twitter (now rebranded as X)—dates to the early 21st century, extending the idea of brief, chirp-like communications.
